Akhanda Jyoti Sthapana at Sharmalaya

In our Hindu culture, lighting a lamp denotes dispelling away darkness. The lamp is, in most Indian languages, called as “Jyoti”. When we pray to Goddesses by lighting a lamp, the belief is that we will be richly rewarded with tremendous prosperity.

The oil or ghee in the lamp symbolizes our vaasanas or negative tendencies and the wick, the ego. When they are enlightened by spiritual knowledge, the vaasanas are slowly exhausted and the ego also perishes. The flame of a lamp always burns upwards. Likewise, we must acquire knowledge that leads us to higher ideals.

In reality, it is said that Goddess Rajarajeshwari resides in the lamp – she represents the combined form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi.

Propitiating the Deepalakshmi (in the form of Rajarajeshwari) with vermillion, flowers, and stotras every Friday can give immense benefits that cannot be described in words.

On   1/10/2020 pournami , the lamp was lit by Shri Dr. Surendra Sharma. Above all, it's the grace of the Divine Mother Dakshineshwar Kali and her will that this event came to fructition.

As our Dear Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba says, this external akhanda jyoti should be a constant reminder for all of us to light the "antar jyoti jalao", to light the the inner light of consciousness.

We take this opportunity to thank each and every one who have extended their time, thought, help and support for the same.
