Sheetala Mata as known to people is the healer of poxes , diseases and epidemics , she also teaches us one more quality that is compassion . She is riding a Gardabh / donkey who was non other than the person which made her incarnate in the world . He was Jvarasura which caused the greatest of all epidemics on earth and tried to kill all the children so that the human race can be annihilated . As she appeared and enslaved him , he lost all his powers and influence on earth . She transformed him into a donkey to reduce his intellect further which will forbid him from taking any evil action . She didn't killed him , and after looking at her mercy he apologized to her and remained at her service forever . This is Mother , always compassionate . She may be seen punishing a lot of demons in the legends but ultimately she gave Mukti or ultimate liberation to all of them.

This quality of the Devi must be strengthened in the world today . Let everyone remain compassionate upon each other . The infected ones with the virus must show compassion on the non infected and the non infected must take a good care of the infected .
